Dr. Julianne Malveaux is an extraordinary woman. I had the opportunity of meeting her, as she was my alma mater, Bennett College, 15th president (Bennett breeds strong women, because we have leaders that are as phenomenal as her). Not only is Dr. Malveaux an author, educator, economist, and commentator, she is also a very well known feminist. Dr. Malveaux is an activist and civic leader, she fights for women rights, civil rights and education. She currently serves on the boards of The Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington, DC, The Economic Policy Institute and the Liberian Education Trust. Along with her many roles as a successful leader, she also is a public speaker and has spoken at over 500 college/universities and corporate events. A lot of her feminist work is published in numerous magazines, where she discusses issues that Black women face and how to solve those problems. She is everything I wish to be when I become successful, independent, assertive and wise.
