Here’s To SISTERHOOD!

Sunday, July 14th kicked off my first Book Club meet and greet brunch! It was super cute and super fun!

I had this idea to start a book club a while ago, but work and school took over so I had to wait. Since I am completely free this summer, I am dedicating my time to making all of my ideas come to life! Hence, the execution of my book club. With the help of my friends and major support from my loved ones, I put it together and pulled it off! (also big shoutout to Pinterest).

I took a few pictures of our event (see below). This first meet and greet was about getting to know each other and what to expect out of this book club. With brunch in the city already being pricey, to make it more intimate and comfy I hosted the first brunch at my house, it came with unlimited mimosas and all you can eat buffet. We played games, we laughed, we talked and most importantly we brunched. Everything did not go as planned as I tried to prepare for, but everyone loved their gifts, their food and the hospitality so its a win all around!

OYT Book Club July & August Theme: self discovery.

OYT Book Club first read is Tryin to Sleep in The Bed You Made by Virginia DeBerry & Donna Grant. July’s theme was self discovery. As we matriculate through life sometimes we lose ourselves through all the chaos. It’s difficult at times to regain focus & purpose, but definitely worth the battle. This book is about 2 friends who reconnect in later years and rediscover certain things about themselves.

Our second book is really intriguing, Donna Hill is an excellent writer in this novel, An Ordinary Woman. The novel is about the betrayal of the most sacred of trusts. It is about the that one moment when a single choice will change lives forever. It is a cautionary tale that dares to look deep inside the hearts and minds of the characters involved

Our third book follows our new theme of patience. The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith is a touching story about a young woman as she struggles to find strength in the aftermath of an assault.

Say hey to the girls!
